Quincy is situated near the geographical center of the state of Washington, and is surrounded by lush farm land. Agriculture provides the economic base for the area where the rich, fertile soil of the Quincy Valley has been found to be as deep as fifty feet. The area where the city is now situated was once used only for cattle and horse grazing by a Scottish nobleman named Lord Thomas Blyth.

Quincy is undergoing many changes and has become a center for technology with the construction of Phase 1 of Microsoft’s new data storage facility and Yahoo! beginning construction of their storage facility. Intuit has also purchased land in the city and plans to build a facility. This influx of technology based businesses has brought a housing boom to the area with many new homes and condos under construction.
